Physical Education

“The development of the mind comes through movement.” Maria Montessori

Young children need help learning and fine-tuning motor skills. They must go through several developmental steps to learn how to coordinate their movements into efficient running, throwing, catching, and the like. Much like reading, if there isn’t proper instruction, feedback, and appropriate opportunities to practice and learn, children will not become proficient at these skills. The children ages 3-6 are provided daily developmentally appropriate physical activity experiences. They are also given instructional content designed to foster the development of knowledge and skill in movement exploration categories (Movement Concepts, Balance, Locomotor, Manipulative, Health & Nutrition, and Social & Emotional Development).
